Hello, I'm Douglas.
Though the art of psychotherapy and psychoanalysis is alive with possibilities. But you’re not here for that, nor are you here for my words, but as a quick bio and cv–I minored in Art at NYU at the same time that I majored in film. After graduating, I studied painting with Jim Ward in Madrid, came back to the states to produce television commercials and produce a feature film.
After 15 years or so, with a brief stop in my father’s yarn business, continued study at places such as the Art Students League, et al... Back to university for psychology, and I leaned into therapy and leaned into diligently painting whenever I could. The artists I met within and through the folks at Pleiades Gallery helped me to grow both as a person and an artist. I’m grateful for that. With COVID and raising a young child with my wife, a full therapy practice, academics, writing, and speaking engagements, it’s been a shift in the wind. And were it not for my art, my drawing, that discipline, I would not have had the oxygen to survive.
